When you see her in the present she does not have the same smile or the fun-loving nature, Sara Ali Khan as Misha is welcomed home by her stepmother Rukmani, who was also seen at the birthday party flirting with Rajashab. The princess welcomes everyone with a wonderful smile, however, the time hasn't been kind to her or the others in the palace. A young Mishri or Misha is surrounded by her loving father, friends, and also the unfortunate. The thriller begins with a reel of a 1990s children's birthday party.

However, one good thing that came out of the movie is Chitrangada Singh's performance as Ranisa Rukmani. It's befitting the film's title, given the amount of misdirects that have been added to the film. However, when the film begins it throws every 2000s horror trick at you, from loud noises, and creepy mansions to jump scares. Gaslight led by Sara Ali Khan, Vikrant Massey, and Chitrangada Singh has been defined as a mystery thriller.
